NUEVO MILENIO, INC.
Nuevo Milenio, Inc. traces its roots to Merlo Enterprises.
Merlo was coined from the first syllables of the family name of the founder (MERcado) and the maiden name of his wife (Lopez). And true enough; it has been the collaboration of this husband and wife tandem that reaped success for the business enterprise. Jose H. Mercado at Lipa City, Batangas, founded Merlo Enterprise on February 17 1974.
Merlo Enterprises
started in the distribution of veterinary products
when swine and poultry raising was becoming increasingly popular in Batangas. Over the years, it has developed a substantial number of loyal customers. From a customer base found largely in Batangas, it expanded in the provinces of Laguna, Quezon and Cavite to encompass the Southern Tagalog area. As the years progressed, the company started to diversify into other business ventures namely: coffee trading (to the local and export markets), swine raising, broiler production and coffee farming.
On February 17, 1978
Merlo Agricultural Corporation
was created in place of Merlo Enterprise. Further diversification and growth prompted management to divisionalize its handling distribution of veterinary products into a company, namely Merlo Agric-Vet Corporation. On March 12, 1991 Merlo Agric-Vet Corporation was born. The company expanded its territory to cover Southern Tagalog and Northern Luzon.Later on, the Bicol region, a peninsula south of Luzon was discovered as a growth area. On January 1, 1996 Gold Star Agric-Vet Corporation was born. This has completed the total coverage of the Luzon Island’s major swine and poultry producing area. Realizing the potential of other two major island group, Visayas and Mindanao, the decision to expand the veterinary product distribution more southward was considered. This gave birth to another distribution network on January 1, 2000, which is Li Dav Agribis Inc.
Today
a network
which is nationwide in character, is available for animal health and nutrition products supplied by multinational as well as local companies. This strength further created a vision of a company who will source products from foreign suppliers as well as manufacturing for its own. Thus Nuevo Milenio Inc. was given birth. The company’s name itself expresses its vision to be forward thinking and dynamic for the scenarios of the new millennium.
